Nostos
Nestled on Holland Road in the heart of Hove, Nostos is the kind of restaurant that effortlessly blends modern Greek flavors with a coastal Brighton charm. You walk in and immediately sense that this isn’t your average Mediterranean joint-there’s a hum of energy, the clink of wine glasses, and the occasional laughter floating in from the outdoor seating area. If you're hunting for a place that serves both hearty comfort food and vibrant vegan options, this is where you should be headed.
The interior strikes a balance between stylish and relaxed, welcoming diners with a friendly, contemporary Greek atmosphere. Whether you're popping in for a quick lunch, taking your time over a Sunday roast, or looking for a solo dinner spot, Nostos has that rare versatility that suits any mood. They’ve got wheelchair-accessible entrances, seating, and toilets-so yes, they’re serious about inclusivity, even though parking might be a little tricky.
Now let’s talk food-because honestly, that’s why you're here. If you’re into seafood, the grilled octopus is a total must. Perfectly charred and tender, it’s the kind of dish that shows off the kitchen’s skill with Mediterranean classics. Another standout? The Nostos Vegan Moussaka. Rich, layered, and deeply satisfying, it doesn’t just cater to plant-based diners-it impresses everyone at the table. Pair it with a beetroot salad and you’ve got a dish that’s both nourishing and full of flavor.
Craving meat? Go straight for the Chicken Souvlaki or the Kleftiko-that’s slow-cooked lamb, so tender it practically falls apart. And then there’s The Olympian Sunday Roast-a local favorite that somehow marries Greek inspiration with British tradition. It’s indulgent, filling, and worth every bite.
If you’re a fan of small plates, Nostos delivers a killer tapas-style lineup. From bruschetta to shrimp toast, each dish is carefully crafted to bring bold flavors in small, shareable portions. This style of dining pairs beautifully with their wine list-yes, they’ve got a great one. Whites, reds, and Greek varieties that you rarely see elsewhere in Hove. Beer lovers aren’t left out either-there’s a carefully selected menu of both local and imported brews.
For those with a sweet tooth, don’t skip dessert. The baklavas are everything they should be-crispy, sticky, nutty, and just sweet enough. Or try their chocolate options with a side of their great coffee, which has become something of a quiet legend among regulars. It’s also the perfect way to end a leisurely Sunday lunch, especially if you’re sitting outside on a sunny day.
One of the less talked about-but absolutely worth mentioning-features of Nostos is their live music sessions. On select evenings, the restaurant comes alive with the sound of acoustic guitars or Mediterranean vocals that elevate the whole dining experience. It’s subtle, never overbearing, and adds a lovely layer of ambiance to your meal.
And if you’d rather dine at home? Their no-contact delivery and takeaway services are smooth and reliable. The quality of the food travels well, which is more than you can say for most Mediterranean places. Whether you’re ordering the double cooked chips, a full Sunday lunch, or a mix of their organic small plates, you can expect it to arrive tasting just as good as it does in the restaurant.
All in all, Nostos is more than just a dinner spot. It’s a warm, flavorful escape from the ordinary. With its thoughtful mix of Greek tradition, modern flair, and community-friendly vibe, it stands out in Brighton and Hove’s bustling dining scene. Whether you're a first-timer or a returning fan, there's always something new and delicious to discover here.

Filipa provided catering for a hen party in Brighton this weekend and the food was incredible! She was responsive from the point of contact and catered for all dietary needs. When she arrived she set it up for us and provided labels with dietary signs on. I could not fault her service and next time I am in Brighton/Hove I look forward to dining in at the restaurant!
We went there for dinner (twice already ), had a lovely time. Sharing a bunch of starters is a great way to get to experience some of their exceptional dishes, before delving into the hearty mains. My impression was that this is a crossover between a contemporary, fine dining experience - well rooted in authentic Greek cuisine. Dishes are creative, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious!
A Greek Culinary Experience with Soul Nostos isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a full experience. Every visit feels like a mini trip to Greece, with beautiful dishes that are both authentic and elevated. From the tender souvlaki to the fresh Greek salads and indulgent desserts, everything is made with love and attention to detail. The service is warm, the setting is stylish but welcoming, and the team make you feel like part of the family. I especially appreciate how Nostos celebrates Greek culture—not only through its food but also through community events and its genuine hospitality. Whether you’re a local or visiting Brighton, Nostos is an absolute must. Come hungry, leave happy, and probably dancing if it’s one of their themed nights!
Nostos has an authentic Greek feel, great music and atmosphere. Food is really good and they could cater easily for my gluten free diet. They also welcomed our dog which was a bonus. This restaurant is surrounded by very good restaurants but this is the top choice for us. We could actually watch the sun set from our table inside the restaurant. Service was exceptionally good. I can't fault it!
We came for a free tasting for our wedding buffet. The food was lovely, fresh and flavourful. The staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet prices are very reasonable. I would 100% recommend.
